Jason Wu Fall 2011 & Vena Cava Fall 2011
Quite a few of the designers took inspiration from the 90's. Not only the grunge era but also the elegant 90s with the pants at the natural waist line, cropped tops and floor grazing skirts. The early 90s was a great decade for fashion.

MBFW 2011
Fashion week got off to a great start today with some inspiring collections. There was lots of layering, a nod to the 70's and even my favorite period Grunge at Nicholas K. I honestly wasn't exepecting to like Rachel Zoe's collection much but her beautiful tailored suites and dresses are definitely on my wishlist. Below are some of my favorite looks from the shows.
M. Patmos showed lots of knits that will be great for layering. One sweater was made out of one continous thread, which means no seams, using a state-of-the art Japanese machine.
Nicholas K, plaid, Doc Martens, sheer, black and grunge what else can I say? This collection has everything that I love!!!!
BCBG Max Azria
Of course soon to be mom Rachel Zoe's collection would exude the 70's. Her long flowing dresses and tailored suites should be new additions to any smart woman's closet. I have been trying to find the perfect cape for a very long time and I think I have found it. Rachel did a great job at not over doing the 70's trend but I dont really think this will be a trend for her collection because we all know that it's the favorite decade for the well known stylist.

Pretty Girl Rock
This month Vogue Italia showed some love to the cocoa skinned models of the industry in an editorial titled The Blackallure. The editorial features Arlenis Sosa Peña, Ajak Deng, Chanel Iman, Georgie Biddiel, Jourdan Dunn, Lais Ribeiro, Melodie Monrose, Mia Aminata Niaria, Rose Cordero and Sessilee Lopez. The girls were shot by Emma Summerton and styled by Edward Enninful. I'm happy that black models are getting a little more face time in magazines, not to make a statement but because they are just as good as any other model. Below are a couple of pics from the editorial , the rest can be seen at fashioncopious.
On another note last week marked my first days interning at a prominent model/talent agency here in Houston. The first couple of days were spent learning all of the basics; who's who and how to screen calls for new talent. I got to file comp cards and assisted with the set up of one of the agency's open calls. On Sunday I interned for a local stylist, who I've worked with in the past, at a photo shoot that was held for some of the models who needed to update their portfolios. It was a long day, but it was spent doing something I love! I'll continue to blog about my intern experiences in future posts.
Chanel is wearing a beautiful Versace gown that we have seen a lot on the red carpet. January Jones wore a red one to the Golden Globes and Blake Lively wore a shorter version at another red carpet event.
